Corsica Hotel under £100 as seen in The Times

Just Corsica was delighted to be featured in The Times Europes 100 Best hotels for Under £100 per night:  http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/travel/wheretostay/article4365337.ece

Inspired by the original owner’s trip to Puerto Rico in 1870, this Maison Americaine has been converted to a luxurious hotel where stays are a steal. From an elevated location outside an inland village that’s 16km from the beach, it overlooks a national park and has an elegant pool deck of the kind where you’d expect to see celebs. There’s a homely feel to the rooms, and some have period features, such as original fireplaces.
Details: B&B doubles are from £98 a night (01202 703500, www.justcorsica.co.uk)

Additional information:

Situated in the tiny village of Feliceto in the heart of La Balagne region of north west Corsica, 14km from L’Île Rousse on the coast and 26km from Calvi airport.

Beautifully renovated 19th century ‘Maison Americaine’ now a small hotel with a refined guest rooms, each having a traditional Corsican charm.  Once the home of the Renucci family (who still live in the village) the property was built by Nicolas Renucci in 1870 on his return from Puerto Rico from where his architectural inspiration was obtained and which heavily influenced the design of this wonderful building. Lovingly converted to a hotel in 1962 by the creator’s great grand nephew Jean Renucci, this ‘palazzu’ has welcomed numerous distinguished guests in its lifetime.

Hotel Mare E Monti’s traditional restaurant Sole E Luna (separately managed) is situated on the lovely, sun drenched terrace with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The restaurant serves a small yet refined range of specialities prepared using locally sourced, fresh ingredients.

The charming village of Feliceto, surrounded by rugged mountains, is renowned for artisan activities such as glassblowing, wine production and olive oil pressing and visitors are welcome to sample the excellent wines produced by Domaine Renucci in the cave adjacent to the hotel. For keen walkers, there is the opportunity to discover the ancient ‘bandit’s house’ set high up on the slopes of Monte Grosso overlooking the village.
